I formed smcNet in August 1996 in Santa Ana, California. At that time, I was working for a software company in Irvine, and
smcNet gave me a way to use my skills in ways I couldn't accomplish at work.
I'm now in De Pere, Wisconsin, and still operating smcNet from the coolest home office around.
The lack of geographic boundaries on the internet allows me to work from home, while attracting clients from all over the country.
I've worked for clients in nine states, including a project for a company in Germany (they spoke English).
On a personal level,
I'm a graduate of West High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin;
I have an A.S. degree in Computer Science from Santa Ana College.
I have served on the Technology Committee at Our Lady of Lourdes School since 1998.
I also served on the Our Lady of Lourdes Education Council for six years, four of those as chairman.
In 2000, I started sharing my time and professional experiences with local high school students in various computer and business classes. I have been a guest speaker at West De Pere High School, De Pere High School, Preble High School (Green Bay), and Southwest High School (Green Bay). I am most proud to have assisted students at my alma mater, West High School. West has a great Computer & Information Technology Academy, where the kids are learning skills that were once only available in advanced-level college courses.
At home,
I'm married and have three daughters (and two golden retrievers). I am an avid Green Bay Packers fan and I sing in a barbershop quartet. I also enjoy hobbies such as home automation, genealogy, bowling and chess.
I've been donating blood through the American Red Cross since my mother, Meredith, got me started when I was 17. I've donated over 12 gallons in my lifetime,
and I'm also registered with the National Marrow Donor Program.
So, a quick way to get on my good side is to tell me how many gallons of blood you've donated :)
